The age old question of whether to install standing seam or asphalt for your new roof. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.

Standing Seam offers an overall longer lifespan, is lower maintenance than shingles, is more energy efficient and can easily shed snow that builds up on your roof. On the other hand, standing seam roofs are more expensive than asphalt shingles and require a more complex install.

Asphalt roofs offer a quick install (done in a day!), are more affordable compared to standing seam, and offer a wider range of colors and styles. The downsides are they don`t last quite as long as metal roofs, are slightly less durable and require more maintenance.

Vermont Construction spends an astronomical amount of money on advertising to present an illusion that they are competent construction company. For new construction stay far FAR away from these guys. They are extremely disorganized, unprofessional, negligent, and possibly crooks. They have no skilled in house laborers, can’t hold on to employees, and have no strong relationships with sub contractors. The word is out about these guys and I believe the success of their company has peaked. It also appears some negative google reviews of them have disappeared. I will check back every once in a while to make sure my review stays. The good people of Vermont need to know how morally inept The Vermont Construction Company is.I attempted to link Reddit pages but google wont allow it. Before hiring this company please google “Vermont Construction Company Reddit”. You will find multiple posts revealing the companies true colors.

A very impressive event took place as the team from Vermont Construction Company re-shingled my residential home. Chris Russell explained the process and the documents and he answered my questions about the process. Everything went like clockwork. Very efficient. Vermont Construction Company's roofing team showed up early one Thursday and had the job completed by mid Friday. They worked like a well-oiled machine and didn't leave a scrap of debris. The roof looks great and was completed with zero interruption of our routines.Gerry Howatt came out and did the evaluation of our roofing needs, providing an estimate in a timely manner. I hired Vermont Construction Company to install a new roof on my home in October of this year. The Account Manager, Cale DuBrul, helped me to decide between having my ridge cap, only, replaced or the entire roof. He was honest and forthright about explaining the pros and cons, and I ultimately decided to replace the entire roof. Within two weeks, I had a new roof, which a crew of three people installed on Halloween day. They worked tirelessly and carefully from start to completion. The young man heading the crew, who was very accommodating and efficient, answered my questions and showed great care to ensure that I was satisfied with his explanations. They left my property clean and free of debris. Unreservedly, I recommend Vermont Construction Company. They know roofs.

Overall I would say they did a great job. My only recomendation would be if they could have one person on site who could be a good point of contact. The 3 workers that were here on the day of the install were all nice, and did good work, but the communication piece was a bit challenging. So having someone there you could talk in detail about the work and any issues that may come up would of been nice. But overall it was all good and we will still use them for future roofing needs.

"We know roofs." Elena came to my house to meet me, look at my roof, take pictures, talk. I liked her immediately. Especially her t-shirt. A few days later I had my estimate. A month later I called to tell her that I'd like to book the job. Fall was here. If she didn't have time, that was okay, we could book for next year. That same day or next, Elena contacted me and said they could do it. A few weeks later, the crew showed up. Earlier than planned which was okay with me. It was a crew of five or six. Two women, three/four men. They all had their jobs and went about doing them. No one talked much. To watch this well oiled machine of a crew go about taking down the old and putting on the new was something else.They started at 8AM.They were done at noon.They even had time to demo an old shed of mine.{Thank you Maria!}I could not be happier with the transparency, reponse time (to emails and texts) and efficency of this outfit.Thank you to ALL.

The crew that replaced my barn roof (roughly 60sq) with multiple roof lines and a cupula that needed to be shifted and then put back in place once the hole was covered was phenomenal. I would highly recommend Vermont Construction. I worked with Paula to choose with roof option (asphalt vs metal) would both look good and have a reasonable cost. I'm very happy with the end result.

The crew was very experienced, arrived at 7:30 AM, removed my old roofing before noon and completed the job before 6PM. This included a very thorough clean up of my property. The crew from Vermont Construction Company arrived early one morning in May and quickly started work. We had chosen this company to replace our roof as we felt we needed an experienced company to handle the somewhat irregular roof structure. The house is a comtemporary Victorian and has a number of roof surfaces as seen in the aerial view taken a few years ago. In addition to the main roof there are covered porches on three sides of the house, a sun room (seen on the right side of the house), an attached garage, and an eight sided conical roof over the master bedroom. A few days prior to their arrival, their supplies (shingles and rolls of plastic under-layers) and a dumpster were delivered as scheduled. They also brought two replacement sky lights for the office in the second floor of the garage. The work day started with part of the crew removing the old shingles while others laid tarps over the open decks and shrubs around the house to protect them from the falling debris. Throughout the day, one or two crew members were assigned to picking up the old shingles from the ground and transporting them to the dumpster. At the end of the work day, all of the main parts of the roof of the house and garage were complete with the new shingles, leaving only the porch and sunroom to be completed. Although they had said that most of their jobs are complete in one day, they asked if it were acceptable if they returned the next day to complete the job. This, of course, was acceptable as I didn't expect they could fininsh it in one day.I was impressed with the quality of their work and the professional manner with which they went about it. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who plans to replace their roof.

Vermont Construction did a complete roof deck replacement on one side and they stripped and replaced an adjacent roof so that both blended well. I appreciated the thorough process which yielded a refined and simpler solution and unified the look of this main entrance on a retail building.Great and competent company to work with. No surprises. They came in quickly and got in and out in under the time they estimated they would require to do the work. (That hasn't happened for me in the past several years) Solid outfit, great communication and excellent workmanship from everything I can tell.

We had a moisture problem in the crawlspace under the addition to our home. We needed a contractor who could coordinate our repairs, painting, and carpeting, and time it all with the Northern Basements Systems crew who installed the proper moisture barrier. Vermont Construction did a great job of that, with high quality work, and on the schedule they laid out in our contract. There turned out to be an additional problem with a rotted sill plate, and they had to jack up the room and replace that. They moved mountains to get that done on time so that Northern Basement Systems could do their work as scheduled. We love the "new room", and we are grateful for all of their expertise.

I had the roof replaced on my South Burlington investment property in early December of 2021 (luckily there was no snow!) and I must say I am all around 100% satisfied with my Vermont Construction Company experience. This is the first time I've ever had to hire a contractor so I have no basis for comparison but here are the facts: the roof looks fantastic, they left the landscape the way it was beforehand, and the final cost ($16,500 for 34 squares) wasn't much more than estimated and the extra charges (the necessary replacement of rotted plywood and bad chimney lead flashing that I confirmed with my own eyes) were defined in the estimate so I can't complain. Well done to Mateusz the roofing project manager, Guillermo the lead roofer and his three associate roofers, and the two non-stop clean up workers. I gathered estimates from several roofing contractors and VT Construction Co's wasn't the cheapest but it also wasn't the most expensive, but it was the most thorough and understandable, making the choice of selecting a roofing contractor easier than I thought it would be. They even gave me a 10% discount for my military service. The quality, value, team work, work ethic, communication, and professionalism were top notch. If you need your roof replaced hopefully this review saved you some time.Edward Burdick
